My scans from HP8600 panel were not working, so I went into HP Print and Scan Doctor to attempt a repair (I have had sucess with repairs doing that).  In the process, I was prompted for an update to my existing version 5.1, which I accepted and did.

HP Print and Scan Doctor managed to fix scanning problem, but now my scans result in black and white only.

I am connected via wired cable to router and am using Windows 10-64x desktop.

I read somewhere to click on a desktop "printer icon" to switch on "scan in color", but I am not clear that there is a printer icon existing on my desktop screen.

I would like to be able to scan from my computer, sometimes, rather than from the printer's panel, but I am not aware of how to do that; too many icons on my desktop to be certain of which one needs to be opened.

Please help.

Hello:
I am attempting to scan from the HP8600 control panel and am using Windows10.
Where is the "printer icon"?  I do have a shortcut on my Win10 desktop screen that when clicked opens DeviceSetup.exe; I don't think that is what I must use.

How do I open the "printer software" on my computer? Can you give me the proper path? There are times when I would prefer to scan or print from the computer/keyboard rather than at the HP8600 control panel.

Please help.

Regards,
