Scanjet Enterprise 7000n Document Scanner

Yes, I know the 7000n scanner is pretty old but I was actually on the public beta team and tested this before it was available for the public.  So I was getting the scanner ready for a new setup in my friend's office and the scanner is in pristine condition and it was working fine.  Stupid me noticed that there was a firmware update available for both the jetdirect card 635n and the 7000n.  Both I decided to, the jetdirect went well with no issues.  I did the scanner update and I get the 49.38.xx error after an update and the only option is to restart. At this point the next option is reload the original firmware which i have but and was solved in this forum but I cannot get any response from hp 635n jetdirect card when I got into the admin menu and setup TCP to listen to to upload the new firmware to the scanner. I would appreciate any insight on how to fix this.

I tried using a cross over cable, switch, router, varied configuration of IP addresses and nothing.  I can't get it take a ping at all. It is lit up and the other side, not matter what I am plugged into is lit up also.  For instance I plugged into my router, both sides lit up, put in a static, the router would not see that the device was connected even though it was lit up, cable to cable it just shows unidentified network.  In the link from the forum where they did solve it, they were actually able to ping it from windows.  So it should work.  Any idea what I may be missing?

I solved it myself.  I completely forgot that the JetDirect port is not active during that phase, and you have to use the other port in the back.  I reflashed the firmware; it turns out I didn't have to reflash the firmware back to the original.  I just had to force the reinstall of the update firmware again, supposedly.  Some said it worked; others said they had to start from scratch.  So I guess this can be closed.
