Hi @WHARTON11,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it is when your HP Smart Tank 7602 receives faxes but refuses to send them, especially when everything else seems to work fine. Let’s walk through the steps to get this sorted.

Steps to Fix Fax Sending Issues on HP Smart Tank 7602 (Windows 11)

1. Check Fax Line Connection

  • Ensure the phone line is securely connected to the Fax Line port (usually marked as “1-LINE”) on the printer.
  • Avoid using splitters or surge protectors they can interfere with fax signals.

2. Run HP Fax Setup Wizard

  • On the printer’s touchscreen, go to:
    • Setup > Fax Setup > Basic Setup
    • Confirm your country/regiondialing prefix, and answer mode.
  • Make sure Error Correction Mode (ECM) is turned on.

3. Test Fax Line

  • Use the Fax Test Report:
    • Go to Setup > Fax Setup > Tools > Run Fax Test.
    • If the test fails, check with your telephone provider to ensure the line supports analog faxing.

4. Disable VoIP or DSL Filters Temporarily

  • If you're using VoIP or DSL, try connecting the printer directly to the wall jack without filters or modems.
  • Faxing over VoIP can be unreliable. HP recommends using a standard analog line.

5. Check for Dial Tone

  • Try sending a fax manually:
    • Press Fax > Send Now, enter the number, and listen for a dial tone.
    • If no tone is heard, the issue is likely with the line or connection.

6. Update Firmware

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
