Hi @Manysalsas,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP LaserJet Pro MFP M148fdw is equipped with fax capabilities, but sending and receiving faxes directly via a cell phone involves a few additional steps. Here’s how you can manage it.
Sending a Fax Using Your Cell Phone:
HP Smart App:
- Download the HP Smart App: Available on both iOS and Android platforms, the HP Smart app allows you to send faxes directly from your mobile device.
- Set Up the Printer: Ensure your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M148fdw is connected to the same network as your mobile device.
- Use the Mobile Fax Feature: Open the HP Smart app, select "Mobile Fax," and follow the on-screen instructions to send a fax.
Receiving a Fax Using Your Cell Phone:
HP Smart App (for notifications):
- Fax Notifications: The HP Smart app can notify you when a fax is received on the printer, but it won’t deliver the fax directly to your phone. You will need to check the printer or the email if email forwarding is set up.
Fax to Email Services:
- Fax to Email: Some fax services can forward incoming faxes to your email. Set up an account with a fax-to-email service and configure your printer to forward received faxes to the provided email address. You can then access these faxes from your email on your phone.
Steps for Setting Up Fax to Email:
- Register for a Fax to Email Service: Choose a fax service that offers fax-to-email functionality.
- Configure Printer Settings:
- Access the printer’s fax settings through the printer control panel or the HP Smart app.
- Set up the forwarding feature, inputting the email address provided by your fax-to-email service.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
