Can't get scanner to work on hp office jet pro 8710 with Mac OS 10.13 high Sierra

Can't get my scanner to connect/work on hp officejet pro 8710.  I have a mac running OS 10.13 high Sierra.  Any ideas?

I understand that you have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer and is unable to scan from Mac OS 10.13 High Sierra. 

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details: 

• Is the printer able to make a photocopy? If yes then it indicates that the scanning hardware is working fine.

Please download and run the HP Easy Start. The HP Easy Start is the new way to set up your HP printer and prepare your Mac for printing. HP Easy Start will locate and install the latest software for your printer and then guide you through printer setup.

If the scanning still does not work then you may try to use the Apple Image Capture application.

Just contacted Apple Help and they said to  contact HP I guess to get them to add HP Officejet Pro 8710 to their list. Right now if you look at the list the HP Officejet Pro 8710 is not listed. the last device in the series is the Officejet Pro 8600.

Also I tried the HP Easy Start and it did not locate my HP Officejet Pro 8710. I did get my print to work using my IP address but it does not bring the scanner up.

Note: Printer stopped working after the newest HP print software Vwersion 5.1 on the Mac OS which I udated Feb. 16, 2018.
