I have an old printer HP OfficeJet Pro 6878.  Since I changed computers, I cannot scan multiple pages into one document. I can scan 1 page but cannot add another page. I now have a new computer. What seems to be the problem?

Hi @Charles1953,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 6878 can scan only one page at a time and no longer allows multiple pages to be saved into a single document after changing computers. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Confirm the scanning method being used
Make sure you are scanning through HP Smart or HP Scan and not Windows “Scan” or “Fax and Scan”.
Some basic scan apps only support single-page scans.

Check document feeder vs flatbed scanning
Use the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) on top of the printer for multi-page scanning.
Flatbed scanning requires using the Add pages / Scan next page option in the software.

Enable multi-page or PDF scan settings
In HP Smart or HP Scan, choose Save as PDF instead of JPG or PNG.
Look for options such as Add another page, Scan next page, or Multi-page PDF.

Install the full-feature HP software
Uninstall any basic scan drivers currently installed.
Download and install the Full Feature Software and Drivers for the OfficeJet Pro 6878.

Set the correct scan source
In scan settings, confirm the source is ADF when scanning multiple sheets automatically.
If using the glass, select Flatbed and enable manual multi-page scanning.

Check default app and permissions
Ensure HP Smart is allowed through Windows security and has permission to access the scanner.
Close other scan apps that may take control of the scanner.

Restart devices after installation
Restart the printer and the computer after software installation.
Reopen the scan app and test multi-page scanning again.

I hope this helps.
