HP Smart Tank 615 Wireless All-in-One

I've been using the SCAN button on HP Smart for years. Recently, when I click on SCAN I get this error message: "Unable to connect to Scanner". Any ideas how to fix it?

Hi @Nitzan101,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To resolve the "Unable to connect to Scanner" issue with your HP Smart Tank 615 printer, you can try the following steps.

  • Restart Printer and Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve communication issues between devices. Turn off your printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. Restart your computer as well.
  • Check Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. Use the printer's control panel to check the wireless connection status and reconnect if necessary.
  • Update HP Smart App: Make sure your HP Smart app is up to date. Updates often include fixes for bugs and connectivity issues.
  • Restart HP Smart App: Close the HP Smart app completely and reopen it. Sometimes, restarting the app can clear temporary glitches.
  • Check Firewall/Antivirus Settings: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus settings can block the connection to your scanner. Temporarily disable these software programs and see if you can scan successfully.
  • Reinstall HP Smart App: If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart app on your computer. This can reset any configurations that might be causing the issue.
  • Check Scanner Settings: Ensure that the scanner is properly set up and configured on your computer. Sometimes, driver or software updates can reset settings.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Smart Tank 615 printer. Firmware updates can sometimes fix connectivity issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the "Unable to connect to Scanner" error in HP Smart and get back to scanning smoothly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
