After every Windows 10 feature update the scan and copier functions do not work. I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest HP drivers and ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor and receive a notice "WIA scan error. Scan process cancelled by the user." I checked the local services icon and the WIA service element is on automatic and running. I chatted with a technician on the Microsoft Help site and he could not identify the problem either. The device was checked by an HP service technician and there is not hardware problem.
Not sure what is preventing the scan/copy function from operating.

@alstjames, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Copy function is not related to the software.
Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
Which app do you use to scan?
Check if a security software on your computer is blocking the scanner software.
You may disable the anti-virus program for a couple of minutes and check if you are able to scan.
Please right click the start button and select Run.
Type services.msc and press OK.
Locate the Shell Hardware Detection service, select it with a single left click and press the Restart button
Next locate Windows Image Aqcuisition and select it with a left click, then press the Restart button.
Now, try scanning.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I did all those things to no avail. The other item that doesn't work is the feeder tray. It will not load documents to coy or scan. All of these things must be connected but I cannot determine their cause. I checked the hardware at a local HP service and it functions perfectly on their PC there must be something in the software on my PC that is preventing the scanner from working.

Did you try making a copy from the flatbed glass?
If you are able to make a copy, it means the scanner mechanism is working fine.
If the document feeder tray is not pulling the paper in, it is a hardware issue with the printer. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Cannot scan from the flatbed glass either. Each time I try to copy or scan, the process starts and the mechanism runs but stops still midway. That's probably why I receive the message "WIA Scan error. Scan process cancelled by the user". I did not perform any action to cancel the process so I'm not sure who or what cancelled the process.

Check the scanner bar functionality
Perform a visual test of the scanner mechanism to see if it is jammed.
- Remove any original documents or photos from the scanner glass.
- Lift the scanner lid slightly, and then press the Copy button or icon.
If the scanner light does not move or moves halfway or is not lit, the scanner mechanism is likely jammed/broken.

Also tried to scan from the HP Smart App and received message " Scanning cancelled from the scanner". There must be some edit or coding instruction being sent to the scanner interrupting the process since it occurs no matter what app I use.
