We initially purchased our printer when we lived in GE. Once we got back to the states, we set the printer back up and tried scanning to email but keep receiving an error message that “username or password incorrect” but have no idea what username or password was used. This was initially setup in ‘19 or ‘20.

I understand you have moved from Germany to US and the printer is not accepting the new region cartridges.
We need to perform a regional reset on the printer to resolve this issue.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

For the scan to email issue, we may need to reset your HP Printer to factory settings.
