Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Envy 5640

I'm running Monterey 12.0.1 on my iMac (this OS is not yet a choice on the above drop-down menu). I have been using my printer to print various things all day (without any issue) and wanted to scan a document, for which I would usually open the HP Smart App and proceed.

This time it required me to sign into my HP account (I never knowingly logged out) in order to access the scan function. The problem is that, when I try to login, it doesn't even get to the login page, but has been buffering for some considerable time with the message "Find the open browser window, then sign in to your HP account. Note: The window might be behind another open browser or minimized." - there is no window open anywhere>

I then deleted this App and downloaded the most up-to-date version but, unfortunately, the same problem.

So I cannot scan without access via the HP Smart App and, as I cannot reach the login page, this is currently impossible.

Any ideas?

I have the same program today and not resolved. Any idea?

On Mac.

I opened HP Smart.

Clicked SCAN.

Got this window: "Find the open browser window, then sign in to your HP account. Note: The window might be behind another open browser or minimized.

Nothing.

So I turned Safari into the default web browser (System Preferences / General)

Tried again. Quit HP Smart. Opened it. Then at least a link on Safari would open. But when I signed in, it went into loop mode.

Until, bored of trying stupid things... I saw a little text at the bottom right in this Safari sign in window.

The language.

Changed English into Spanish (maybe because my account / printer is in Spanish / Spain).

All of a sudden, I could log in.

As stupid as that. Hope it helps. Not sure about it.

Thank you for the effort in responding, but if I change the language from English then I'll be stymied as I won't understand what written on the screen.

However, the was an upgrade in my OS today to 12.1 and, now, I can access my HP account again and scan, so maybe it was an Apple OS issue?

Try updating and see if this helps

I just upgraded to 12.1 and the problem is resolved, so maybe it was an Apple OS issue

Hi,

Please open System Preferences and select General. make sure that Safari is set as the default browser and check for any difference.

If the same persists, from the Apple icon select Force Quit and quit Safari, then check for any difference.

If there is still no difference, try setting another browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox as default and check if you may then able to logon.
