Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I am trying to set up "scan to network folder." I have set up an SMB share, which is accessible from my admin account and also from another non-admin account to keep my admin account private. I when I enter my admin credentials, scan to network folder connects and works perfectly. When I try the non-admin account, I get "Access Denied. The username or password is incorrect" on the printer, and "Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again" from the web interface. I have checked the account and password numerous times, including pasting the same password into the account and the printer credentials. I am able to connect to this folder via smb from another Mac with no problem.

This post (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-Copying/Scan-to-network-folder-Mac/m-p/8572961#M267354... references an "incorrect username and password issue." The one thing that I had not done from that post was to enable "Windows File Sharing" via the "Options..." button in the File Sharing control panel. But after doing that and restarting, it still doesn't work.

Hi @NatKuhn,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It appears that the "Scan to Network Folder" feature is not correctly configured to use non-admin account credentials, which is resulting in the "Access Denied" error. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps

Check Shared Folder Permissions:

  • Ensure that the shared folder has the correct permissions set for the non-admin account. The non-admin user should have both read and write permissions to the shared folder.

Validate Network Credentials:

  • Double-check the username and password for the non-admin account. Ensure that the credentials are entered correctly in the printer settings.

Verify the Network Path:

  • Confirm that the network path configured in the printer corresponds to the shared folder's actual path.
  • The network path should follow this structure: \\ServerName\SharedFolder.

Network Connection:

  • Ensure that both the printer and the computer hosting the network folder are connected to the same network.

Firewall Settings:

  • Confirm that any firewall settings on the computer hosting the share are not blocking access from the printer.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
