To everyone that is suddenly having scanning issues when previously everything worked fine. I used HP Print doctor to troubleshoot, not expecting any luck, but it said there was no scanning software in my laptop. Odd since it has been scanning from HP printers for 5 years with no trouble at all. it recommended I download scanning software. When I did that I noticed the date was May 24, so possibly there were some updates in that release that rendered my version obsolete. Anyway i downloaded and my printer now scans. Well at least one page, I have not tried any more yet. Quite possibly it will fail the next time I try it!
