Dear All

 

I recently upgraded to a HP Envy laptop which I have connected to my printer/scanner using a USB cable.

My HP Scan Extended software worked initially then it could not connect to my printer/scanner, a B110a.  I downloaded HP Smart which worked initially then also could not connect to my device.  I have tried warm and cold booting but to no avail. 

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.  I am an online tutor and need the ability to scan.

Reinstall the HP Scan driver on your HP laptop and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to automatically repair the scan configuration.

Thank you for your reply.  I reinstalled the driver but HP Print and Scan Doctor was retired on May 27 2025.

I found a HP video on 'HP printers - 'Scanning is Currently Unavailable' displays in the HP Smart app (Windows, macOS)' and went through the suggestions including replacing the USB printer cable but to no avail so I just bought a new printer scanner.
