We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

I cannot scan a document in the ADF using the touch screen on my new MFP 283CDW.  It only works using the software on the pc.

@Chi2k, Welcome to HP Support Community!

 

To be able to assist you better, I'd like to know the following-

  • Are you trying to scan to PC or Email?
  • How is the printer connected to the computer?
  • Is there any antivirus software installed on your computer?

Meanwhile, Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor and run the program. It will automatically diagnose and fix any printer connectivity issues.

Hi,  

 

I am attempting to Scan to PC on a wireless connection.  The ADF works when I Scan to EmailCopy or Scan using HP Smart.  HP Scan Doctor did not find any problems and I updated to the latest firmware.  Yes there is an antivirus software installed.

If you already have the full-featured printer software installed, follow the steps below-

 

1. Click on the Printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a “Manage Scan to Computer”, click on that.
3. Make sure that you “Enable” Scan to Computer. Also, make sure the tab “Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows” is checked if you want to make this feature permanent.

Now, try scanning!

My printer app is different from your screen shot.  This is what I have installed and there is no option for Scan to Computer.

 I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below: 

  

1) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features 

2) Select your HP Printer 

3) Select Uninstall 

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers 

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’ 

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo. 

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe”

😎 Click on the “Drivers” tab 

9) Look for an HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom 

10) Select Ok 

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows 

12) Close Devices and Printers.

 

Use this link to download and install the new driver. Configure the printer and try setting up scan to PC.
