I have an HP OfficeJet 5255 all in one and I have always been able to scan documents from the HP smart app on my IPhone. Today when I went to scan I get a message saying “This feature is not supported by the selected printer. Connect to a different printer to use this feature.” I have restarted my printer, checked to make sure the app was up to date along with my phone (which everything is up to date) and it’s still not working. What else do I need to do to be able to scan from my phone?

Hi @Lilangelluvr,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already taken some troubleshooting steps, which is great. Here are a few additional things you can try to resolve the issue.
- Check Network Connection: Ensure that both your printer and your iPhone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Sometimes connectivity issues can cause features like scanning to be disabled.
- Reinstall HP Smart App: Try deleting the HP Smart app from your iPhone and reinstalling it from the App Store. This can sometimes resolve software glitches that may be causing the problem.
- Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Officejet 5255 printer. You can usually do this through the printer's control panel or HP's website. Sometimes updates can enable new features or fix bugs that may be causing issues.
- Reset Printer Settings: You can try resetting the printer to its default settings. This can sometimes resolve compatibility issues. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue and start scanning from your iPhone again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
