Hi @mommadorian @Kilo3

Try scanning using the Apple Image Capture. Refer to "Scan with Apple Image Capture" from this document

Let me know.

When I do this is says it's waiting for scanner.  Nothing happens.

I can't get it to work at all now.

I was able to complete a scan using Apple Image Capture.  But, it adds extra steps compared to what I was used to with HP Easy Scan.  I'd rather use HP Easy Scan.

HP Easy Scan is not yet compatible with macOS 10.15. HP is working with Apple to release a compatible version soon. For more info, refer to this document.

If the printer is not detected by Apple Image Capture, check the connection between MAC and the printer.

Check if you are able to print.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

  • Do you have any Anti-virus software installed on your MAC?
  • Make sure the printer and the MAC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Keep me posted.

I was able to use Image Capture to scan.  I'm still hoping to be able to use the scan function directly from my printer, using the flatbed.  Do you know when this will be available?

@mommadorian

As of now, we do not have any confirmation yet. We are working on it. Kindly wait for the updates from HP or Apple.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Waiting for news of the fix as well. I use the flatbed glass a lot, and not having it working is causing a real headache with my work.

"If you feel my post solved your issue,"? Seriously?  No it solved nothing, this is ridiculous. This is 100% HP'a fault, so please don't say you're waiting for a solution from Apple!

Mac OS can get through to the printer and force it to scan from the flatbed, while the HP software itself, can't.

I have an 8720, and this error is really slowing me down.
