HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am unable to scan multiple pages from the flatbed on my Officejet Pro 9130e printer via Control Panel - Scan to Computer.  Each page scans as a separate document, despite selecting "Add" to add a second page during the scanning process.  Also, it takes 3 - 4 minutes for the scan to appear on my computer.  I have the HP Smart app installed on my computer and can scan multiple pages to the same document from HP Smart as well as from the from the document feeder, (however I cannot do this from the flatbed) but it still takes 3 - 4 minutes to appear on computer.  This option was  working perfectly fine up until a couple of months ago.  I have uninstalled my printer and all the software,  and re-installed it four times, but the problem has not been corrected.  I have tried all the troubleshooting suggestions (checking that the network settings are the same, updating all the drivers and firmware, resetting the printer back to factory settings) but the problem persists. In addition, when I try to access my Scanner Utility Tools, I receive a message  "The connected device has no STU support".

My printer is less than one year old!  Please help!

@luckyzena, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand you're experiencing two main issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e All-in-One Printer:

  1. Unable to scan multiple pages into a single document from the flatbed via Control Panel > Scan to Computer.
  2. Scans take 3–4 minutes to appear on your computer.

Let’s address both issues step-by-step.

Issue 1: Flatbed Scanning Doesn’t Combine Pages into One Document

The "Scan to Computer" function from the printer's control panel has limited capabilities compared to the HP Smart app or HP Scan software. It often does not support multi-page flatbed scanning into a single file.

Recommended Workaround:

Use the HP Smart app or HP Scan software on your PC to scan multiple flatbed pages into one document:

  1. Open HP Smart on your PC.
  2. Click Scan > Scanner > Source: Flatbed.
  3. After scanning the first page, click + Add Page to scan the next.
  4. Once done, click Save and choose PDF format.

Alternatively, use HP Scan:

Issue 2: Scans Take 3–4 Minutes to Reach the Computer

This delay is unusual and may be caused by:

  • Network latency or interference
  • Outdated drivers or software
  • Firewall or antivirus interference
  • Scanner Utility Tools (STU) malfunction

Try These Steps:

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure both printer and PC are on the same Wi-Fi band (2.4GHz or 5GHz).
  • Avoid using VPNs or guest networks.

Update Firmware and Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support Page
  • Download and install the latest firmware, drivers, and HP Smart.

Check for STU (Scanner Utility Tools) Error:

  • This error suggests a communication issue. Try:
    • Reinstalling HP Scan Extended (if available).
    • Ensuring Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is running:
      • Press Win + R, type services.msc, find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), and ensure it's set to Automatic and running.

Try USB Connection:

  • Temporarily connect the printer via USB to test if the delay persists. If it works faster, the issue is likely network-related.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
