Cannot scan to macOS 10.12 Sierra with Officejet 4620

Since updating to macOS 10.12 Sierra I am unable to scan using my Officejet 4620.

I used to use HP Scan Software which worked fine but I discovered that this only works with OS X 10.11 and earlier. 

The HP Easy Scan App says that it works with macOS or OS X 10.9 and later so I have installed this. 

However, when the app is opened there is a yellow explanation mark over the scanner image. The scanner is selected under the scanner drop down. 

The printer works fine, it's only the scanning functionality that doesn't work. I've tried restarting both my laptop and printer and have reinstalled all the drivers and the app but it still won't connect.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Phil,
The HP Scan application is indeed incompatible with Sierra, therefore you may experience issues.
Delete HP Scan by moving it to trash, then empty the trash, also delete any currently installed instance of HP Easy Scan.

Next install its latest version below, it will be installed within the Applications folder:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-easy-scan-1_...

If you experience any further issues, ensure the latest software is installed by following HP Easy Start below:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

Finally, ensure your drivers are up to date by clicking the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update.
Click Store on the top menu bar, click Reload Page, click Update All if any updated are available.

If you may experience further issues, is the printer connected via USB or wirelessly?
