macOS 12.0 Monterey

This has been going on for a year, I believe (not 100% sure) since I went from Catalina to Monterey software. I don't scan as often as I print, but every time I NEED to scan I have to go through the laborious process of uninstalling and reinstalling HP software and jumping through additional hoops to get the scanner to work. I'm not a techie so this is very frustrating for me. If lucky, I'm able to scan one time. As soon as I use the print function again, the scanner ceases to work, again. I have a wireless connection. The error message on the HP says "Software Required" ("download full software and drivers"). Aren't I doing that every time I go through the fix just explained?

What app are you using to scan?

 

Ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

I don't understand your question, what app am I trying to scan. I have a Mac desktop that is connected (wirelessly) to my HP Envy Photo 6200 printer. I can print from it, copy and scan. It's always preformed flawlessly until  about a year and-a-half ago when an Apple tech remotely installed a software upgrade on my computer. Ever since, when I attempt to scan and the previous function had been to print, the Mac doesn't recognize the HP device.  Printing is never a problem, but if I want to scan I must go through all the steps of uninstalling and re-installing the HP software. Then it will scan, but as soon as I use the printer again, the Mac no longer recognizes the HP for scanning. My Mac software is up to date. The link you provided to Update printer firmware is the same thing I have been using when I need to scan and I have already done several times. It allows me to scan until I print something.
