Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP Officejet 4315xi All-in-One

I have tried using a Print and Scan Doctor and downloading updated software.

Changed ink cartridges; checked for jams; turned computer and printer off and on; unplugged printer -

We can not get our printer to work.

Just keep getting the message -

Cartridge Error: Refer to device documentation for troubleshooting.

(and can't find that error message on any troubleshooting pages)

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Have you installed genuine HP Cartridges?

Do you get the same error when using the old cartridges?

Please remove the cartridges, clean the electrical contacts with a Lint-Free cloth

Reinstall the cartridges and perform a Printer Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed
