Envy 5020
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Almost everytime I wish to print, it is hit and miss as to whether it will work. If it prints one page, then it will show a fault before I can print again. I constantly get the message Cartridge Problem and then it asks me to remove and reinstall the indicated cartridge, making sure it is correctly installed.

This is a new machine (less than 2 months). Occasionally it is OK but 8/10 times, I get this message
I have Instant Ink and so the cartridges are correct

They are correctly inserted

The contacts are clean

I have updated and rebooted the drivers

If I pull out and replace the cartridges, it will print beautifully, 1 page, and then give me the same error again and again

Help, before I return it to PC World and get a Canon!

It's sound like an ink cartridge issue check the ink levels on your printer and replace the low, empty or faulty ink cartridges.

Make sure the ink cartridges are correctly installed

The printer might display an error if the ink cartridges are not correctly installed. Remove the ink cartridges, check them for any plastic tape, reinstall the ink cartridges, and then try to print again.

  1. Turn on the printer.

  2. Load plain paper into the input tray.

  3. Gently grasp the handles on either side of the printer, and then raise the ink cartridge access door until it locks into place.

The carriage moves slightly to the left.

My printer refuses to accept the colour cartridge even after I have replaced it, I’ve used two brand new cartridges and it didn’t register either of them. I’ve checked them for plastic tags and followed all other instructions given to no avail and without the colour cartridge registering I cannot print anything even if it doesn’t need colour which provides me with issues as I’m a uni student
