Scanning quality is poor.
Scanner resolution settings - in HP Smart - only offers 75, 150, 200 & 300 . Literature states Scanner scans up to 1200.
How can I achieve a setting above 300?

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Here's an example to show you how to do a high res scan:
Create a scan shortcut and high resolution scans (HP Officejet Pro 8700 AiO series and 6900 series)
Hope that helps!

You need to
(a) Scan from printer software on your computer,
(b) Only use glass area, not from ADF

Scanning issues…
Please try this scan solution:
HP Scan Extended
For Windows: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"
Make searchable PDFs scans with this free scanning software - https://www.naps2.com/
Let us know.

Thank you. This makes an amazing difference in the scan quality. Even the 300 resolution appears crisper than the scan using the HP Smart app. This allows me to scan at 600 ppi ( double the existing option ) yet still 1/2 the 1200, but still amazing. WHY doesn't HP make this their standard app? Guess it may appear a little more 'complex' to some - Thanks again!

Yes, Thank You. The video showed me how to access the 1200 resolution. Also, how to save that resolution option as an easy to use & access selection. Between locating and using the 'HP Scan Extended' instead of the HP installed 'HP Smart' shortcut, and this information, I'm back 'in business'.
WHY doesn't HP make an easier to use and access user app . . . . like the old HP Solution Center -
