Hi!

How do I change the default scan file name when I save the file please?

For the past two years every time I use the scan, and then save, the default is the same file name, from a scanned expense receipt from 2015 for a business I no longer work for!

How do I change that file name it defaults to? See https://www.screencast.com/t/s77x1XSLkU2F for a screengrab of the file I see each time I save a scan.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Please check out this resource on how to change folder and File name:

HP Officejet Pro 8710/8720/8730/ 6960 /6970 series : Scan & save as individual PDF files

Save to a designated folder – can change the default scan name as well.

(different printer but the steps are the same)

Hope that helps!

Thanks here is the correct process for changing the default file name for the HP Deskjet 3050A :

After opening the the HP Printer Assistant, under the Scan section select Scan a Document or Photo

In the botton right select Advanced Settings link text

In Advanced Settings for Document to File dialogue box select  the Destination tab

Then select Base File Name - change the name - and click OK to save the new base file name.

That's it.:smileywink:

Hi Dean, thanks, I did watch the video, it refers to the interface for the HP Officejet Pro 8730 and associated models.

My steps to solution refer to the HP Deskjet 3050A, which has a different HP Scan interface.

Have a good day>:smileyhappy:

Hi,

Let's upgrade the Scan software with this. 🙂

HP Scan Extended

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Hope that helps!

Hi @stuartgh

Sure. From the scan software, go the "Advanced Settings" and select  "Destination" and rename the "Base File Name" ("Scan") to any name.

Thanks.
