Choose scan PDF or JPEG

I would like to scan a document by using the top drawer and scan as PDF. But the printer only scans when I put the document on the glas plate en then it only scans in JPEG format. How can I switch to PDF?

Download, Save, and Install:

HP Scan Extended

Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start

Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin

Right-Click HPScan.exe > Select Pin to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start

Assuming:

• You have previously installed the printer Full Feature Software,
• You are using a Media (kind of paper) and a Size of paper supported in your printer's Automatic Document Feeder,

then

• The software can scan using the ADF

When everything is "as you like it", click Scan

I would also add that such behavior may occur once scanning from the printer front panel using a WSD discovery rather then the HP Software.

If you scan from the printer front panel be sure to select your computer name only with no added word after it, on the next screen you will be able to select Save as PDF.

If you so not see the computer name only listed go to the HP Envy 7640 software from your PC, select Scan and then Manage Scan to Computer, from there ensure the feature is enabled for the HP Software and that you select the computer name EXACTLY as listed on that dialog.
