HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3835

When I do a colour scan from the document feeder, the first page is skew or only part of it scans.  The rest of the pages are either fine, or also skew etc.  Black-and-white scans from the document feeder work fine!  Also, colour scans from the flatbed (one page at a time) also work perfectly.  Huh???  any ideas?  I have checked and I am using the latest drivers.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Are you able to make Color Copies using both the Glass and ADF?

Let's start with printer reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed

Then update the Firmware from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Also follow the instructions in Steps 4 and 5 from this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04678145 to clean the Rollers

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a great weekend 😊

Thank you for your suggestions!  I have reset the printer and loaded the software, but the problem persists.

I can COPY colour fine - both from the document feeder and the flatbed.  Black and whie scans perfectly and copies perfectly as well - so it is not a paper-jam type problem.  it seems to be isolated to COLOUR SCANNING from the Document feeder.

Do you haave any further suggestions?  The printer used to work fine - it started with this nonsense more-or-less when the warranty expired 🙂

Thanks for keeping me posted

This seems to be a driver issue. Please uninstall the printer driver from Root level and downloads the Full Feature Software

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions

Let me know how it goes

Thank you 😊
