Hello,

I have the same issue and my model a laserjet M478f-9f and I am on Win10 and on a wireless network.  My issue is my scanner has disappeared when I try opening from my desktop icon.  At the same time I have no issue printing.  I used the HP scan doctor tool and my printer shows up twice, one as the network and also standalone.   But when I use the software it doesn't fix the problem.  I went into My HP Smart icon and no problem scanning from my desktop.  It appears the scan portion of the software is corrupted and this has happened in the past a few times and I really don't want to uninstall everything and start over. I really don't want to use the HP Smart scan because of limited setup options.  Is there any other way to fix this recurring problem?
