Dell Inspiron
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We have an HP 8630 all in one printer connected to our Dell  Inspiron laptop via WiFi. The laptop sits 5 feet from the Printer and the Router. The printer and router are next to each other, have been for years. All of a sudden, the printer cannot find the computer; it did before. We can scan from the computer but not from the printer, which is much more convenient. We have rebooted the computer, the printer and the rounter. We have opened up the HP Dr. and the HP Assistant. Nothing works. The printer prints from the computer and from our cell phone. THe printer makes copies. It just won't scan from the printer. What do we do?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

How is the printer connected to the PC? WIreless, USB?

We assume that the Scan to Computer is actvated.

If not, the resources shwo how to connect:

Scan to Computer

Scan to Computer (New UI)

If it's wireless, can try using a TCP IP Port?

Create a TCP IP port

This video resource will show you how to do it:

Create & Use TCP IP port

Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)
