Hi @CRS20261
Thank you for responding.
I understand that you are unable to find the printer in HP Smart. Please be informed that HP has replaced HP Smart with HP APP, I would request you to please uninstall the HP Smart and Install the new HP APP https://www.hp.com/us-en/hp-app/overview.html and try connnecting the printer.
Have a good day.

Hi @CRS2026
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I understand you’re updating your email address and need to connect your HP scanner with a new PIN. Thank you for letting me know—have you already tried any steps to update the email or request a PIN through the HP app or embedded web server?
To guide you correctly, could you share a few details:
- The exact HP scanner or printer model you’re working with
- Whether you’re using the HP Smart app, Embedded Web Server (EWS), or another method to manage email setup
- If the scanner was previously working with your old email address
This will help me narrow down the right process for generating a new PIN linked to your updated email.
We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!
Regards,
Hawks_Eye

The Printer / Scanner is HP OfficeJet Pro 7720
Connection with computer is by WiFi
My address col....am.com is about to be discontinued. I already have a new address functioning but cannot see how to get a PIN to connect the Scanner to the new address

Thank you for confirming the details. I understand you are using an HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 connected via Wi‑Fi and want to update the email address for scanning, with a new PIN linked to your new account. Let’s go through the recommended HP steps to set this up:
Step 1: Open the HP App
- On your computer or mobile device, launch the HP App.
- Make sure your OfficeJet Pro 7720 is connected and detected in the app.
Step 2: Access Scan to Email Setup
- In the HP App, select your printer.
- Navigate to Advanced Settings. This will open the Embedded Web Server (EWS) in your browser.
- In the EWS, go to the Scan tab, then select Scan to Email Setup.
Step 3: Add New Email Address
- Choose Outgoing Email Profiles.
- Select New to add your updated email address.
- Enter the new email details as requested.
Step 4: Request PIN for New Address
- During setup, the system will send a PIN to the new email address you enter.
- Check your inbox for the PIN.
- Enter the PIN in the EWS to verify and complete the setup.
Step 5: Save and Test
- Save the new profile.
- Perform a test scan to confirm that documents are successfully sent to your new email address.
You can follow the official HP instructions here:
HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 – Set Up Scan to Email
This process ensures your scanner is linked to the new email address with a fresh PIN generated securely through HP’s system.
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you for the info; sorry for delay.
The HP Smart will not find my printer, even when I add the IP address. This is strange because I have no trouble printing and I can scan to the old email address.
Suggestions?

Hi @CRS2026
Thank you for responding.
I’m glad you were able to find a workaround by accessing the scanner properties directly from your PC. I recommend continuing to use the official HP scanning software or the printer’s embedded solution once the login issue is resolved. This ensures that all features, such as scan-to-email or network folder integration, remain available and supported.
Please feel free to contact us if you are facing any issues in the future.
Have a good day.
