Hi @Airdevil

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

After upgrading to macOS Sequoia 15.6, scanner connectivity issues over Wi-Fi are common due to updated privacy and network permissions. Printing may still work, but scanning apps often lose access unless manually re-enabled.

It’s understandably frustrating when scanning suddenly stops working while everything else runs smoothly. Let’s walk through a few steps to restore full functionality:

1. Check Local Network Permissions

macOS Sequoia introduced stricter privacy controls that can block scanner access.

  • Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network
  • Look for your HP scanning app (e.g., HP Smart, HP Easy Scan, or Image Capture)
  • Make sure it’s toggled ON to allow network access

2. Use HP App (not HP Easy Scan)

HP Smart receives more frequent updates and is better optimized for newer macOS versions.

  • Download or update from the Mac App Store: HP Smart for macOS
  • Open the app and re-add your printer
  • Try scanning from within HP Smart

3. Reset the printing system (if needed)

If the scanner still isn’t detected:

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
  • Right-click in the printer list and choose Reset Printing System
  • Re-add your printer using IP address or Bonjour connection

4. Update printer firmware

Outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues with newer macOS versions.

If scanning still fails after these steps, let me know your exact printer model and I’ll guide you through model-specific fixes or check for updated drivers.
