Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Hello. No matter if I use HP Smart from my laptop or go through a manual process on the 8730 manually, I am (out of the blue) getting an error message:

"Restart the printer. If the problem persists, the scanner has become damaged and cannot copy or scan. For more information, contact HP support."

The printer is at least 7 years old, and has always worked flawlessly. My HP Smart software is up to date, and the printer is kept clean and not physically moved, and has plenty of fresh ink.

Appreciate any suggestions on how to resolve.

Thank you.

@WryInRye, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding an error message on scanner!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing persistent scanner error messages with your HP printer. The steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue include:

Restart the Printer: As the error message suggests, try restarting the printer. This can often resolve temporary glitches.

Check Connections: Ensure that all the cables connecting your printer to the computer are secure and undamaged.

Firmware Update: Verify that your printer's firmware is the latest version. Sometimes outdated firmware can cause operational errors.

Calibration: Attempt to recalibrate the scanner if your printer model supports it. Check your printer’s user guide for instructions on calibration procedures.

Check HP Smart App: Since you are using HP Smart, ensure that the application itself is updated and that there are no connectivity issues between the app and the printer.

Hardware Inspection: Examine the scanner glass and components for any visible damage or obstructions.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
