When copying from a newspaper the paper is not completely white. The copy then comes out with the background (blank paper) very dark. The print comes out fine(black). How do I adjust the contrast?
Thanks for your brilliant answer, Clyde

@Clyde8765, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Have you tried making a copy of any other document and check if the issue persists?
There is no option to change the copy settings on the printer. It is preset and default.
● Keep the glass and the back of the lid clean. The scanner interprets anything it detects on the glass as part of the image.
● Load the original, print-side down, on the scanner glass, aligned with the top-left corner.
Reset the printer
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
