Hi @Ian1114,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is printing normally but experiencing slow copying, there may be several factors causing this issue. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

  1. Check Scanner Glass and ADF:
    • Make sure the scanner glass and any components of the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) are clean. Dust or smudges can cause scanning and copying to slow down.

  2. Adjust Copy Settings:
    • Review and adjust the copy quality settings. High-quality or enhanced options can slow down the copying process. Try setting it to a standard or lower quality if not necessary.

  3. Paper and Media Settings:
    • Confirm that the paper type set in the printer’s settings matches what you are using. An incorrect setting could cause the printer to slow down as it attempts to adjust for the paper type.

  4. Firmware Updates:
    • Check for any available firmware updates for your printer on the Official HP® Support. Updates may address issues affecting copy speed.

  5. Printer Modes:
    • Ensure the printer is not set to a power-saving or sleep mode during the copying process, as this could affect performance.

  6. Reset the Printer:
    • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve minor issues.

  7. Check for Error Messages:
    • Look for any error messages on the printer display panel or computer that might give insight into what could be causing the slowdown.

  8. Test with Different Originals:
    • Try copying a different document to see if the issue is consistent across all documents or specific to certain ones.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
