Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP Photosmart Plus
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought a new computer and Best Buy installed the HP Smart software for my older printer.  I have used this software to scan another document and it worked fine.

However, I have repeatedly tried to scan another multi-page document and when I try to open the PDF file, I get a message that it cannot be opened and its corrupted/damaged.

Why would the software work fine with one document and not another.  I'm not doing anything different.  Could it be because the document is too long?  I don't get a message alerting me to that fact.

Thanks.

Hi @WM97

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Have you tried scanning different documents to check if the issue persists or is it only with this specific document?

Alternatively, install HP Scan extended on the PC

Click here to download the file.

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Try scanning.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I was scanning medical records with many pages.  I scanned a set for one doctor and it scanned fine.  I had scanned some other documents earlier.  However, the set for the 2nd doctor simply would not scan.  I tried several times and I removed some pages because I thought maybe there were just too many pages.  No luck.

Could it be the number of pages?

I just scanned one page, and HP Smart worked fine.  Its weird to me that the pages I am scanning would be the problem, unless its the number of pages.

I was trying to send it as an attachment in Hotmail which might not accept such a long PDF, but I just tried to open the file outside of Hotmail and I still get the same message:  this PDF is corrupted.  What corrupts a PDF?

Is HP Scan extended a more current version of HP Scan?  Best Buy downloaded it for me on my new computer, so I assumed they downloaded the most current version.  Its not the same as the scanning software on my older computer, but it has worked fine for some documents.

HP Scan Extended is a different application used to scan from your PC. Have you tried scanning using this application yet to check if the issue persists?

Hotmail allows senders to attach files of 10MB only.

Alternatively, if there are too many pages to be scanned, you may divide it into 2 parts and save it as 2 documents. Try scanning half the pages and check if that helps.

The files may get corrupted if the application is outdated, try updating the Adobe Reader application.

Click here to know how to update.

Keep me posted.
