Hello,

Whenever I scan using the ADF, the scan comes out crooked. Does anyone know what the issue is and how to fix it?

Thank you,

Kia

Hi @sh4d0w23

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

  • Make sure to feed the paper correctly to the feeder. You may use the paper width guides.
  • Try making a copy from the feeder and check if that works fine.
  • Have you tried scanning from the flatbed and check if the issue persists?

For now, let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Clean the ADF rollers and the separator pad as mentioned in this document.

Try scanning.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I have tried unplugging and cleaning the ADF rollers and the separator pad however the scan is still coming out crooked.

Did you try making a copy from the feeder and the glass to check if the issue persists?

Also, are you able to print fine?

Keep me posted.

I tried scanning again through the feeder however it is still crooked. I have never had an issue with the glass as it does not scan crooked. Also, I am able to print fine.

I understand scanning is still crooked from the feeder and working fine from the glass.

I mentioned copying from the feeder and not scanning. Scanning requires software, copying does not. So if you try making a copy and check if the issue persists, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a software issue.

Place a document in the feeder and tap the copy button on the printer.

Let me know how this goes.

I have tried copying and I still notice that it is crooked.

This could be an issue with the scanning mechanism in the printer.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
