We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP ENVY 6055 All-In-One Printer
Chrome OS

Any attempt to use the SCAN feature via the Webscan results in a prompt requiring a password.   "A custom printer password has been set. Enter the password or contact your IT administrator to access the printer's web interface." No amount of brain power has been able to recall this password. How do you reset the printer to factory settings?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Could you share the screen where it's asking for the password?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for posting back.

Let's restore the network settings to default settings to reset the EWS page password:

Press the Wireless button and the Cancel button  from the printer control panel at the same time, and then hold them for three seconds.

Once it is done set a new password for the EWS page, follow the below steps:

  • Open a web browser and type the printer IP address in the address field exactly as it appears on the Configuration Page, and then press Enter.
  • Click the Security tab, and under General Security, set the local administrator password.
  • Keep the username default as admin.
  • Type the New Password and Verify Password.
  • Navigate to the bottom of the page and click Apply.
  • Use these credentials the next time you Log In to the EWS.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

The wireless button is the only button which is lighted. Pressing the wireless and the unlighted CANCEL as directed for three seconds (and longer ) does nothing. (Nothing visible or audible at the printer)... and returning to / refreshing the web page has not changed. Still need a password to do anything. AlI I ever wanted to do was scan pages to the laptop as I did with the previous printer. The hours invested in this have reached a point of diminishing returns. It is now to my advantage to just pitch this thing in the dumpster and go purchase something else.
