HP OfficeJet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

When attempting to scan a 7-pg document, it stopped scanning after the 4th page. I restarted the Printer & the PC encountering the same issue. I tried to troubleshoot using the HP Print and Scan Doctor which showed 'Device Manager Error'

Appreciate your advice. Thanks.

This printer came out in 2014.   Not sure how old yours is or how many papers have gone through the top feeder but you may need to renew the rubber in the document feeder rollers

I have had to do that twice on my CM1415fnw

The jam is reported as a fault.  If renewing the rollers does not help you can do a replacement which may cost a lot.  Maybe even more than a used printer.  Note that the vendor below shows a lot of refurbished "used" parts.

Thanks for your advice. I had the printer for a good number of years & it was a reliable one serving my family's needs well. Not heavy printing volume hence I would like to save it if I can. I have a quick question - I am tempted to get a new HP Printer i.e.  HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-In-One Inkjet Printer. Do I need to remove or uninstall anything of the existing printer before installing the new printer? Thanks,

I got mine in 2010 and it still works fine.  I can also use refillable and non-oem ink unlike some of the newer printers that refuse to print.

I would  clean or new the rubber rollers and  air dust the feed gearing.  Try a re-install the complete driver package and a firmware update

If you do get a new printer check read the "fine print" on the firmware update.

Hi BeemerBiker, many thanks for your advice. I uninstalled & reinstalled the Printer drivers & the error msg seems to have disappeared. Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
