I believe your observation is correct.

I cannot find the Digital Fax Wizard for this printer, either.

Checked:

CF378A — HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fdn

CF379A — HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fdw

CF377A — HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fnw

For example:

The Digital Fax Wizard is not mentioned in the product User Guide nor is this feature mentioned in the Datasheet for the Series or the "DW" model.

Options to fax from the printer software and sending a fax from third party software (for example, Word) are explained on Page 91 of the User Guide.

If the Digital Fax Wizard is also not available in the Embedded Web Server (EWS), I would guess the Digital Fax feature is really not available on this printer series.

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

If your device has a fax modem it can perform digital fax. Keep in mind that the main use for this feature is to save faxes to either a folder on your PC or to email to someone, rather than printing the fax. 

As far as I now this setup is done from the Embedded Webserver on the printer. Type the IP address of the printer into the address bar of  your browser (not in the search box). Once the main screen for your printer appears on the screen, look for the digital fax box and click and follow the instructions.
