Digital Fax setup on Mac

I just bought a new printer from BestBuy to use with HP Digital Fax. The machine that has been recommended to me for compatibilty with Mac 10.14 is the HP 8035e. I went through set-up, and everything worked out except when I tried to set up Digital Fax as per <https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03448663>. This is my first experience with HP printers and so far, I have always been capable of fixing print issues on my own.

 

When I got to Step 2, run the setup tool, run from Mac, double-click HP Utility, under Fax Settings, click Digital Fax Archive, there was no Digital Fax Archive to click on, the utility window came up totally blank. 

 

Alternatively, I tried out a tip that ran: “TIP: If you would like to set up HP Digital Solutions without installing the HP software, you can use the printer’s embedded web server.” Under “To set up HP Digital Fax from Embedded web server (EWS)”, step 2, it reads: “On the Home tab, click HP Digital Fax”. But there is no “HP Digital Fax” on my Home tab.

I understand you are trying to setup digital fax on the printer.

Click here to download the HP Utility and follow the steps on that document. 

 

If this does not help, access the EWS page of the printer

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  • Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • If you get any security notification, click on show details/advanced and 'proceed to this website'.
  • Go to Fax > Setup digital fax.

For EWS, on Go to Fax, there was no set-up digital fax.
