Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My old HP Scanner would allow me to scan multiple photos with one scan and save them as separate photos. The replacement HP9018 i purchased last year does not have the feature. If I scan multiple photos, I will have to Crop a photo, save it and then scan again, then Crop another photo and so on. Not the way I want to go.

Is there an easier way to scan old photos to digitalize them on my HP Scanner? I have maybe 2000+ photos to scan and digitalize. If buying a different HP scanner or a competitor scanner just for scanning multiple photos in 1 scan is an option, I am open to it, but reluctantly so. It will be cheaper than going to a commercial company that digitalizes old photos. My PC, Laptop, my scanner/printer is all HP and would like to stick to HP product.

Need advice on use of https://watermarkly.com/  (single user license) to crop photos off a single image when I scan multiple photos with a single scan on my HP9018.

I do not understand why HP had to remove the feature from their software.  One expects new products have enhanced features, and not make it harder for people to use it.

Thanks

Hi,

Such an option is offered b the HP Scan Software which is available for your printer,

Download and isntall the HP Full Feature Software for your printer below:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/OJP9010/HPEasyStart-13.4.8-OJP9010_49_10_4644_2_W...

Following the installation launch HP Scan and select the required scan shortcut.

Change the Item Type to Photo, the Source to Flatbed and the Size to Detect Content on the Page.

Keep some spacing between the different items and perform the scan, the results would be a separate file for each cropped picture.

For the 3rd party application, I suggest checking with its support, we have the knowledge of HP Software and not of a 3rd party software or cloud service.

Thanks. It works- Does the job...

A bit different from what I was used to. Here is what I did:

Place multipe photos to scan on scanner bed,  use the HP Offce Jet Scan icon on desktop to scan , select save as JPEG, for Page Size - select "Detect content on page", Scan photos, Select the right arrow at the top for MORE, Select Manage Image, select Create New Selection, Select a photo in the scan that has multiple photos, then select Create New Selection again, Select the next individual photo from the multiple photos in the scan, ... keep doing this till all photos have been selected, Select Save, Give a name and Save. All photos will be saved with 0001, 0002 suffix to the name given to the SAVE

Makes scanning multiple photos easy.

Thanks again

Easier way is to Select the following settngs. All photos will be saved separately, without any of the steps I had listed earlier
