Microsoft Windows 11

When scanning from document feeder the scanner cuts off the bottom of the page. It is as if the scan begins too soon, with extra space on the top of the page.

Hi @JamesWMPanel,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One printer is cutting off the bottom of pages during scanning via the document feeder, here are a few troubleshooting steps to try.

  • Check Document Alignment: Ensure that the document is placed correctly in the document feeder. The edges should be aligned properly with the guides to prevent the scan from starting too soon or cutting off any part of the page.
  • Adjust the Paper Guides: Make sure the paper guides in the document feeder are snug against the edges of the document without bending it. Misalignment here can cause the scanner to start scanning too early or late.
  • Reset the Printer: Perform a power reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it for 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in. This can help reset any misalignment in the scanning process.
  • Check for Paper Size Settings: Verify that the scanner settings are correctly set to the size of the document you’re scanning. If it’s set to a smaller size (like A4) but you're scanning a larger page, this could cause cropping of the document. Ensure the scanner is set to scan at the correct paper size (e.g., A3, Letter).
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure your printer drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers could lead to scanning issues. Visit the HP website or use HP Smart to check for driver updates.
  • Run Printer Diagnostics: Use the built-in diagnostics to check for any scanning issues. You can do this through the printer's control panel or HP Smart app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
