Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Document Feeder is extremely squeaky when scanning, HP series 9010 printer. This is not a PAPER FEED issue as no paper is fed from the paper supply when scanning; however, when this question was previously posted the answer referred to the paper feed rollers.

Hi @VEH1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series printer's Document Feeder (ADF) is experiencing mechanical squeaking during scanning. Since it isn't related to the paper feed rollers, the noise is likely coming from the internal parts of the ADF mechanism, such as the gears, rollers, or hinges.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

Clean the ADF rollers and separator pad:

  • Over time, dust and debris can accumulate, causing the rollers to squeak. Turn off the printer, open the ADF cover, and gently clean the rollers and separator pad using a lint-free cloth dampened with water. Avoid using harsh cleaning agents.

Lubricate moving parts (with care):

  • If the squeaking persists, some users find that applying a very small amount of printer-safe lubrication (like silicone-based lubricant) to the hinges or other moving parts of the ADF can reduce the noise. Be cautious not to overapply or get lubricant on the rollers or any electrical parts.

Check for obstructions:

  • Ensure there are no tiny bits of paper, debris, or other obstructions inside the ADF that could cause the squeaking when the mechanism moves during scanning.

Inspect for wear and tear:

  • Look for any worn-out or damaged parts inside the ADF. Rollers or gears that are starting to degrade could be the source of the squeak.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
