After Windows 11 24H2 update, I can't scan anymore. As I read in various articles, that could happen if the scanner uses Air-Print scan feature. So, where can I see if my printer uses the feature, and can I somehow disable it?

Hi @geotso,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP OfficeJet Pro 9013 All-in-One Printer supports AirPrint and eSCL (eSCL is the protocol used for AirPrint scanning). If scanning stopped working after the Windows 11 24H2 update, it may be related to changes in how Windows interacts with eSCL/AirPrint-compatible devices.
How to Check if Your Scanner Uses eSCL/AirPrint
Printer Specifications:
- Visit the HP Support site and locate your printer model's documentation. It should confirm AirPrint support, which implies eSCL compatibility for scanning.
Printer Settings or Web Interface:
- Access your printer's embedded web server (EWS):
- Find your printer's IP address (usually listed on the control panel or through a network report).
- Enter the IP address in a web browser.
- Navigate to the Network or Web Services section and look for options mentioning "AirPrint" or "eSCL."
Windows Devices and Printers:
- Open Control Panel → Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your printer and select Properties. If AirPrint is listed as the driver, it uses eSCL.
How to Disable AirPrint/eSCL
Via Printer Web Interface:
- Log into the EWS as described above.
- Disable AirPrint in the Network Settings or Web Services section.
Switch to a Different Protocol:
- Install the latest HP full-feature software or drivers for your printer from the HP Support site. This will often default to HP's proprietary scanning protocols instead of AirPrint/eSCL.
Workaround for Windows 11 Compatibility
Check for Updates:
- Ensure you have the latest updates for both Windows 11 and HP software/drivers.

Reinstall the Printer:
- Remove your printer in Settings → Bluetooth & devices.
- Re-add the printer using the "Add a printer or scanner" option, ensuring it uses the correct driver.
Use the HP Smart App:
- Install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store. It can directly connect and control your printer and scanner, bypassing some Windows issues.
Fallback to USB Connection:
- If the issue persists over the network, try connecting your printer via USB to rule out network protocol conflicts.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
