I have a lot of charts to scan so I bought this Officejet Pro 9135e due to the double-sided scan feature. I'm supposed to be able to put the chart in the tray and have the machine automatically scan both sides to my computer.

I have HP Smart set up, but HP Smart is not giving me the double-sided option to scan. How do I get this option to appear. The printer is advertised as having the double-sided scan feature so it is my understanding that a little check box should be present in HP Smart that I could check to have both sides scanned to my computer at the same time.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

Hi @MelindaHug,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing some difficulty with your HP Officejet Pro 9135e scanner not showing the double-sided scanning option in HP Smart on your Macbook Sonoma. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Update HP Smart: Ensure that you have the latest version of HP Smart installed on your Macbook. Sometimes, updates include bug fixes or new features that might resolve your issue.
  • Check Printer Settings: On the printer's control panel or through its web interface (accessible via its IP address), make sure that the double-sided scanning feature is enabled. Look for settings related to scanning options and ensure that double-sided scanning is turned on.
  • Driver Update: Verify that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your Macbook. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues with scanning features.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting both your printer and your Macbook can resolve connectivity or software glitches that may be preventing the double-sided scanning option from appearing.
  • Alternate Scanning Methods: If HP Smart continues to not display the double-sided scanning option, try using the scanning function directly from your Macbook's built-in scanning software (Image Capture). While it might not offer all the features of HP Smart, it should still allow you to scan double-sided documents.

By going through these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue and start scanning your charts double-sided efficiently.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

The help video I was watching showed a checkbox for 2 sided scanning. There was no checkbox in HP Smart on my MacBook. Instead, there was an option to toggle to 2 sided scanning through a dropdown menu, which I found a few hours after posting this message. Thank you!
