I am setting up a standalone laptop (not attached to the network) with MSWindows XP in order to use a Scanjet 7400C with it's transparency adapter.  I have the impression I have to install it's drivers, the Precisionscan Pro software, and all the subsequent patches in a specific order.   MSWin XP sees the scanner with no problem, but Precisionscan says it can't see the scanner.  It's been like that on various setups I've tried, including inside a VirtualBox VM (which would be the preferred method, but Precisionscan is unreliable there at best)

 

These are the files I have:

HP Scanjet 7400c Windows.iso
setup_basic_7400.exe
sj596mu.exe
sj668en.exe
sj677en.exe
sj678en.exe
sj679mu.exe
sj700en.exe
sj709.exe

 

So which files should I use for WinXP, and in which order?

- We at HP do not encourage using 3rd party accessories or devices , hardware upgrades unless advised in any form of hp documentation

- Find all relevant guides and drivers from the support page here on best effort basis with the limited details that we have about the device  -
