HP Envy Pro6400

For some reason my HP Envy Pro 6400 has stopped scanning, we rarely use the scanner but now it keeps showing E9. Have restarted etc but still remains, it does not even light up when the lid is lifted and will not copy.

Hi @Daveuk123,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

An E9 error blinks on the printer control panel after setting up the printer in the HP Smart app or after resetting the printer to troubleshoot another issue. A Printer Setup Incomplete or Printer Offline message might also display in the app.

This document is for HP ENVY 6010e, 6020e, 6022e, 6030e, 6032e, 6034e, 6052e, 6055e, 6075e, 6420e, 6430e, 6432e, 6452e, 6455e, 6458e, and 6475e printers.

Make sure the printer is on.

Lift the ink cartridge access door until it locks into place.

At the back of the printer, press and hold the Power and Wireless buttons for 5 seconds.

Wait 2-3 minutes for the printer to restart, and then check the control panel for the E9 error.

If the error no longer displays, you resolved the issue. The printer is ready for use.

If the error still displays, continue with these steps.

Close the cartridge access door.

On your computer or mobile device, close the HP Smart app, and then reopen it.

Remove the printer from the HP Smart app. On the app home screen, right-click or long-press the printer name, and then select Hide Printer.

Forget the printer menu in HP Smart

On the confirmation prompt, click Hide Printer again.

Click Add Printer or the plus sign .

A list of available printers display.

Select the name of your printer, and then follow the instructions to set up the printer on a Wi-Fi network.

When prompted, press the blinking Information button on the control panel, and then follow the remaining instructions.

If you cannot complete the setup, close the HP Smart app, and then remove and re-add the printer again.

When the app home screen displays, restart the printer to complete the setup.

The control panel no longer displays the E9 error, and the printer is ready to use.

Contact HP Customer Support for further assistance if the previous steps did not resolve the issue.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
