HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Scanner no longer works, though I have used it many times in the past. Tried to download Print & Scan Doctor, but received a message asking for a disk to be inserted into drive.  I inserted blank disk.  Nothing happened.  Something is wrong with the removeable disk drive, as I had to download a player awhile back, due to refurbished PC not coming with driver to play disks.  I have had several Desk Top PC's, and never encountered that type of problem before.

This one is a refurbished Compaq Elite 8300 CMT,  Original OS Windows 7, Upgraded to Win 10.

Unable to finish Print & Scan Dr installation.  Tried to re-install the Full Web Pack for my ENVY5660 but that stalled too.  Had to use the "End Task" program to shut each of them down.

Two nights ago, huge lightning bolt lit up the sky out side my apt. electricity went out with power surge.  Everything shut off temporarily, including PC.  I have my PC plugged into a power surger.

The printer is attached via USB cord to PC, but the printer power cord is NOT plugged into a surger.   Printer was NOT turned on at the time

Had a little trouble getting PC booted up again.  Ran diagnostics.  Everything said "passed"

Shut PC down manually.  Turned back on, let the circle dots buffer for a longtime.  Finally received the message that "repair was 100% Completed"

PC booted up, but before it could finish, the @#&*^!! Windows UPDATE  ran. (I usually put  this off for as long as possible)

I hope I am not too convoluted with my explanation.  Just wanted to provide all the possible reasons for my inability to scan, though I can print and copy just fine.

Thank you for your time.
