Hello,

  We just purchased a new HP Printer that also faxes. (ENVY Phot 7855) We were able to get it all going pretty good except for the faxing. We are able to receive faxes just fine, but when we try to send a fax (we run a small business) it immediately starts a fast paced busy signal. It does this with all of the numbers we have tried to fax to so it's not just 1 number. 

When I run a Fax Test the report tells me that it passed everything except for the Dial Tone Detection, and the Fax Line Noise Test. It also states below the description of the Dial Tone Detection summary "However, you should be able to successfully send and receive faxes."

I also wanted to state that we are using the exact same line that was working fine with our other fax machine, so I just don't feel like it could be a telephone company issue.

Is the two conductor phone cable connected to Line 2 EXT?

After switching to the 2-EXT and ran a test, it told me "Phone Cord Connected to the Correct Port on Fax' was a FAIL. 

The description told me to switch it back ti 1-LINE.
