Hi JoeBusu,

The scanner is incompatible with Windows 10, therefore no OCR soolution or any scanning option is available for your operating system:

http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=298547&docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-c046...

You may try the 3rd party VueScan software which seems to support your scanner:

http://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/hp_scanjet_3970.html

You may then follow these seps to scan OCR Text using VeuScan:

Hope that helps,

Many thanks again for prompt reply.  Will try out "the 3rd party VueScan software and let you know the outcome. Mean-

while, since I also use an hp deskjet 3-in-1 printer 1050A J410 series, is this compatible with Windows 10?  if so, how  to use it to transfer text scanned on it to WORD, where I can edit it?

Hi Joe Buzu,

The HP Deskjet 1050A J410 series is supported on Windows 10, but no OCR capabilities are offered for by the HP Software for the specific model.

If you have Microsoft Office suite there is a good chance the office suite provide this kind of capabilities:

Office 2007 or 2010:

Office 2003:

Renewed thanks, but sorry I cannot so far navigate properly with VueScan. Have scanned a text but, even though it is automatically saved in WORD, I am not allowed to rotate or edit it.  Cannot figure out where I went wrong.

At some point, I hit on ROTATE (to put the scanned image in the upright positio) but nothing happened.

I dare not buy VueScan yet, before I know how to use it.

You see, I am newbie in these matters, and can get easily confused in navigation.

Thank you again for your kindness and patience with an old-age pensioner.
