I set up my printer, worked well right away.  I printed from my computer.  The next day I could only print from my phone, not my laptop.  I keep getting this message "Encryption Credentials Expired"    The printer is working fine as it prints from my phone.  I have tried deleting the printer and reinstalling.  Any ideas?

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

It's a pleasure assisting you in finding answers to your technical queries.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Are you facing this issue after an update?

As the printer is working fine this could be the driver issue.

update the printer firmware and Mac software:

Update printer firmware

Update software on Mac

Restart the printer and the MAC

I did a double check on the printer specification the printer is AirPrint compatible.

Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-3830-all-in-one-printer-series/7172321/document/c0... for printer specification

Let's add the printer as Airprint using the below steps.

Step 1: Remove multiple printers from the printer list

Check for multiple devices in the Printers list, and then remove any extra entries other than one in idle status.

  1. Search the Mac for Print, and then click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners in the list of results.

  2. Find the printer names that match your printer from the list of devices.

Figure : Printers and Scanner window with multiple names of a printer in the list

  3. If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then click the minus button  at the bottom of the list. Leave one 'idle' printer in the list that matches your printer if available and use this printer as the Default printer.

  4. Try printing again.

    • If the printer prints, you can stop troubleshooting.

    • If the printer remains offline or displays an error, continue to the next step.

Step 2: Delete the existing print queue and add the printer

Remove the printer queue from the list of printers, and then add it again. Doing so creates a new printing session.

  1. Make sure your Mac is connected to the Internet.

  2. In the Printers list, click your HP printer, and then click the Minus button  to delete it.

  3. Click the Add button .

  4. Find and select the name of your printer from the Printer list, and then click Add to add your printer. Do not select an HP Fax driver.

  5. Click Print Using or Use.

  6. Select the name of your printer (if available) or AirPrint.

Your new printer queue displays in the Printers list in an Idle status .

  7. Try printing again.

You asked me if I did updates and then tried again. Yes, in fact I took my MAC into the Apple store and had it totally cleaned up.  Still unable to print.

Had the same problem and was able to fix it. (The replies that HP left on this thread are incredibly stupid and frustrating.) Go to system preferences > Printers & Scanners > click on your printer on the left and delete it with the "-". Then add it back with "+". In the dialog that appears, select the printer from the list. Then in the drop down menu labeled "Use", change "Secure AirPrint" to "AirPrint". This worked for me. Good luck.

Thank you for this answer. I have spent an hour going through all the steps that hp support listed and nothing was working. This did the trick. My son may now color his gremlin.

This worked for me too! Thanks!

This worked for me. It took me a few minutes to find the "AirPrint" option, which comes up when you add the printer, at the bottom of that box. Thanks so much for the fix!

O thank you!  It worked, hooray.
