Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Trying to scan documents straight to Google Drive and the 2 things I can't do is:

1 - Scan straight to a sub-folder (option just isn't there)

2 - Scan in A4 (default is letter) and I can't change this on the shortcut or the scanner.

Any ideas on how to do this please?

Welcome to the HP Community --

There are separate parts to the Scan setup, including one and more of the following.

1)   Original document size - typically called the Scan Area.  Depending on the application or software you are using, the area might be set as Page Size = "Detect content on Page" similar for the content type.

2)  Optional - Related to HP Smart / HP App -  Create a Shortcut to save to supported Cloud destinations

3)   Windows - Full Driver Printer Software - HP Scan / HP Universal Scan  -- Much can be done with the newer HP Scan / HP Universal Scan software -- it might be possible to use the software to save scanned content to a mapped Google Driver sub-folder.

and

4)  Select printers (not all), using either the printer control panel or the Embedded Web Server (EWS) can save printer level Scan defaults.

For example,

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Scan > Scan to Network Folder > Default Job Options

The following is meant to touch on just a couple of the more common scan methods and features.

======================

Windows - HP Smart - Scan Settings

Unfortunately, to date, HP Smart / HP App -- by itself -- does not understand the concept of saving Presets / Custom Shortcuts, including the Scan Area.

You can select and manage some of the settings in the current job-- you cannot save those selections without using HP Smart / HP App as part of a more intelligent (versatile) driver that understands Presets / Custom Shortcuts.

General Example -- HP Smart - Windows - Scan Setup - Current Job

-- Note --

If you cannot select the Scan area as you want it done, select Entire Scan Area

Scan the content

Correct / Edit the Edges around the content

and / or

Scan the content

Select Edit > Crop and select the size from the list of available crop sizes

======================

HP Smart / HP App - Shortcuts - Cloud Save Destination

If not tried, consider using an HP Smart / HP App Shortcut to shunt your scanned content into Google Drive and a selected sub-folder in that destination.

The following example if for OneDrive -- the concept is the same, though, and -- assuming you have access to the Google Driver as the destination, you should be able to edit the folder.

How it works --

  • Create the Shortcut that contains the Drive destination, including the folder
  • Scan the content using HP Smart, including adjusting / editing the Scan Area and / or the shape of the scanned content.
  • Instead of trying to "Save" the scanned and optionally edited scan content, call the next action Shortcuts and select your new Shortcut that will save the scanned content to your Cloud destination.

======================

HP Scan / HP Universal Scan

HP Scan --is part of the full driver printer software available for select versions of Windows.

HP Universal Scan is a nearly identical formatted stand alone Scan software that is both Operating System and Printer dependent.

Google Drive, if mapped, signed in, and available to the HP Scan / HP Universal software, might be selected as a viable destination.  I do not believe sub-folders are an issue, though it's been a minute since I tested using Google Drive for anything.

General Example - Windows - HP Universal Scan - Main menu > More - Destination
